Thanks ever so much for your understanding and trust

To all my students

Thanks ever so much for your understanding and your trust!

Because when the lockdown was extended and the competitive exam postponed you stayed with me.

We were able to transition from face-to-face classes to Zoom classes with no much hassle.

I think we all enjoyed the “human contact”, even if virtual. And I hope you learned that things can also be done virtually.

Also, a big “thank you” to all of you for your trust this year. And, particularly, to those who are continuing with me next year. In a few days, I’ll be contacting you with info on how the contents for second-year students will be organised in the various Poppies Building Blocks.

Thanks to those interested in joining the Poppies family

Thanks, and you will soon receive details of the contents in the Poppies Foundation Plus and how to enroll. Unfortunately, not many places will be available for 2020-21, but hopefully, there will be a few.

And thank you to the Poppies’ readers

For their indulgence. Despite my good intentions to publish some posts to help during the lockdown, I was unable to find the time to do so.

I know that most of you are looking for help to get better prepared for the competitive exam. Or information on the exam, ideas, etc.

And I hope you’ll indulge me a bit longer. For, at least during the summer, the posts I intend to publish will be devoted to my husband, Vernon. It’s a year now since his death and he left written the memoirs of his youth. He was a good teller of anecdotes and we encouraged him to write them down. That’s what he did for most of 2018. Indeed, I’ve already transcribed a few bits here.

So later on today, for it’s now 30th June, Vernon will tell us about his memories of the time when he played with Joe Cocker in 1964-65. There will be about three or four parts here. Then, I’ll select some anecdotes about the time he spent in Germany and other parts of Europe. This was just before or just about the time the UK joined the then Common Market.

Then, in September, when/if I find the time, we’ll get back to posts on teaching, the exam, language, topics, etc.

XXI
